My Struggle with Worry

The Constant Worry Generator

For as long as I can remember, my brain has been like a constant worry machine. A casual comment from a colleague might spiral into fears about job security. A minor ache could lead to imagining worst-case health scenarios.

And the crazy part? Most of those worries didn't even come true. Yet, in the moment, they felt so real, so important. It wasn't until I reflected later that I could see how irrational some of my concerns were.

I realised that I needed something to help me break this cycle—a tool to hold me accountable and let me look back with clarity and hopefully break this cycle of constant worrying.

Designing the App I Needed

At first, I designed this app for myself. I wanted a space where I could log my worries the moment they popped into my head. But I didn't want it to be just a dumping ground. I needed a way to revisit those worries later and decide whether they were justified or not.

That's the heart of Don't Worry. It's simple:

  • Write it down: As soon as a worry strikes, you capture it in the app.
  • Step away: The app gives you space—a few days—to let the initial panic settle.
  • Reflect: After some time has passed, you return to your worry and mark whether it was warranted or unnecessary.

It's a process that helps me gain perspective and slowly rewire my mind to stop giving so much weight to needless anxieties.

For Myself—and for Others

The more I used this app, the more I realised it could help others too. Worrying is universal; we all do it to some extent. Some people are chronic overthinkers like me, while others just need occasional reminders to step back and reflect.

With Don't Worry, I hope to create a safe space for everyone to offload their fears without judgment. It's not about solving your problems or giving advice—it's about helping you gain perspective and recognise patterns in your thinking.

A Journey, Not a Cure

I'll be honest: this app hasn't "cured" my anxiety. But it has helped me become more mindful of my thoughts. When I feel a worry bubbling up now, I remind myself, "Just write it down and let it sit for a bit." That act alone has been incredibly grounding.

If you've ever found yourself paralysed by worry or looking back and laughing at the things that once consumed you, this app might be just what you need.

Let's start worrying a little less—one step at a time.
